Outdoor Learning
Grittleton House School has wonderful school grounds to explore. We organise weekly “Forest School” sessions in the grounds or woods. These sessions help build children’s confidence and self esteem and, at the same time, explore nature and the changing seasons. Activities include den building, mini beast hunts, storytelling, tracking and trails, Nature Detectives and using simple tools.
At other times we use the grounds for wellie walks, picnics, environmental activities and games. Having the freedom to run around and play outdoors in the fresh air is important for childrens’ health and well being.
We offer ballet lessons if there are enough children interested, for which there is an extra charge. We also organise trips to local places of interest such as Westonbirt Arboretum, Bowood House and Gardens and Butterfly World at Wroughton. We invite visitors into the nursery to talk to the children about their jobs. Recent visitors have included a plumber and staff from a local vet, along with some four legged friends!
