Weekly School Newsletter – 20 May 2016

Dear Parents,

The GCSE exams are well under way with a number of subjects having already been taken, there are a few more next week including English and maths. I’m sure you’ll join me in wishing this year’s Year 11 all the very best in their exams. The internal exams taken by the rest of the school recently will be reported on by teachers after half term with follow-up parents’ evenings as well.

Well done to the six athletes who took part in the north Wiltshire Schools’ Area Athletics today in Bath. Dan Langley, Ollie Shipp, Charlie Main, Niamh Gregory, Theo Fitz-Johnson and Tom Williams represented the school in an array of activities and we await the results next week.

Charlie and Troy, who you may recall delayed their charity bike ride at Easter, are now cycling from Bristol to Bude in the summer. Please pass on any donations to the boys by the end of next week. For further information please look at their Facebook page ‘Bristol to Bude Cycle’.

Last weekend Charles Fletcher (Year 3) represented Grittleton at the Great Britain U10 National Foil Championships. His bouts were tough matches but he managed to take points off each player he came up against. Charles has only been fencing for a matter of months and clearly has a talent for it! Keep up the good work, Charles!

NB Fencers – please note that fencing club will take place on Monday lunchtime and Friday after school next week. Neil apologises for the inconvenience but due to family issues these changes are unavoidable at the present time. Please feel free to call me if you would like to discuss the situation further.

Events next week…

Monday – Fencing Club (lunchtime)

Tuesday – Pre-preps day trip to Badminton estate

Wednesday – 2.30pm Parents’ Forum meeting, 3.30pm Parent’s Evening for Reception to Year 6

Friday – Fencing Club (after school)

Enjoy your weekend…

Kind regards,

NJ Dawes
