Headmaster’s Welcome
Welcome to Grittleton House School. The unique ethos of the school is based on the principles of our founder, Mrs Joanna Shipp, that children thrive when they are encouraged to be active and engaged from within the nurturing environment of a family-run school.
As Headmaster of Grittleton House School I have high expectations of all of our pupils. With the guidance and expertise of our inspirational teaching staff, our pupils can fulfil their academic potential, and leave the school as well-mannered, confident and motivated individuals.
I believe that we need to stretch our pupils academically, supporting them through the learning process in small classes, individual one-to-one attention and first class teaching staff.
We value gifts and talents in whatever field, whether academic, sporting, music, art or drama. Our academic results are consistently excellent. Pupils can and do gain the very highest marks at Key Stage 2 SATS and at GCSE level.
Through high quality pastoral care we bolster their confidence and self-esteem. Pupils learn to be compassionate to others and develop a moral courage that will be invaluable to them forever. Grittleton is more than just a school; it is a close-knit, friendly family which believes in old-fashioned, traditional values. I believe that teaching children about manners, kindness, and the ability to engage in conversation are all life lessons that should never be forgotten.
After school activities, held in our idyllic grounds, provide a refreshing change of pace from the classroom. They encourage the children to achieve their best as individuals but also allow them to work as a team and adapt to different roles and situations.
I hope that I will have the opportunity to meet you to discuss your child’s education. I passionately believe that Grittleton House School offers the best all round education for your child, and will provide them with the perfect foundation for their life ahead.
Mr Nathan Dawes, Headmaster
