Joyce Westlake, Solicitor based in Nailsea, Bristol


Joyce is a former pupil of Rangeworthy Court School – the forerunner of GHS. She went on to study law at Cardiff University and qualified as a Solicitor with two well-known firms in Bath and Bristol. After a short career break following the birth of her two daughters she established and ran a successful branch office providing a wide variety of legal advice to families and small businesses. Now semi-retired and doing some occasional locum work, she volunteers as a Lay assessor visiting care homes in the Bristol area. Leisure interests include tennis, Pilates and foreign travel.


Janet Cundall, Former Head of HR at the John Lewis Partnership


Having spent her early childhood in Australia, Janet completed her secondary education in Surrey before graduating with a degree in French from Kings College, London. After a short spell at the British Council, she joined the John Lewis Partnership, initially working at Peter Jones before transferring to the Corporate Head Office where she was responsible for managing the personnel function ‑ including recruitment at all levels and the ongoing personnel support for some 2000 ‘Partners’ working in a wide range of specialisms from Catering, Buying & Building Services through Finance, Legal & IT. Since retiring, she has enjoyed having more time for leisure pursuits, which include exploring the area, joining a walking group and indulging her love of travel, good food etc.
