Core Subjects

Maths and English are taught daily and the other core subjects (geography, history and science) are taught through project-based learning. For example, the history of the school building is used as the basis for a history project, which expands into learning about the era the house was built, how the local village evolved and a trip to Sevington Victorian School. We aim to make learning varied and interactive through outdoor activities like pond dipping within the school grounds and a variety of educational school trips.

One of the popular projects is the Romans, which culminates in a Roman Day. Pupils design and make their own battle dress to be worn on the day. During the morning, pupils practise their battle formations such as the tortoise (testudo), before enjoying a feast of homemade Roman treats in the Italian gardens. The day is brought to a close with a classroom charge!
